The Beachclub is happy to welcome the Canadian rapper Tory Lanez for his first visit in Pointe-Calumet! Here are 4 facts that will make you 100% ready for the artist’s show.
1. His stage name is related to his childhood
Daystar Peterson, also known as Tory Lanez comes from Ontario but moved to Florida at the beginning of his teenage years where he developped an interest for rap music. His stage name comes from the fact that he was spending the majority of his time loitering in the streets as we call them lanes.
2. Where it all began
At a young age, Tory Lanez had to live in the streets for about three years. Throughout the years, he discovered his passion for hip-hop et got inspired by artists such as Brandy and R. Kelly.
3. He is proud to represent the swavey style
The rapper considers his music style as swavey. For him, this expression means that he can rap, sing and do many other music related stuff. He also states that labels mostly want to tag the artists to a specific kind of music, but he prefers to remind that he performs in the swavey style.
4. On his way to the top
As soon as Tory Lanez released his first album, I Told You, he won in popularity especially due to his two singles Say it and Luv. Both ended up on the Billboard Hot 100 soon after the release. He was also spotted by many artists like ASAP Ferg with whom he share the Level Up Tour in 2016.
